THE gulf between the number of people using the Internet and those who remain "offline" is getting wider.
The number of homes connected to the Internet ranged from almost 60% in Wokingham, Berkshire to less than 10% in Blaenau, Wales.
The report by charity Citizen's Online said the gap could widen because Internet adoption rates were three times higher among wealthier families than those on low incomes.
Chief executive John Fisher said: "This research now makes it possible to focus efforts on those areas that need the most help to bridge the Internet divide."
The lowest Internet uptake was in Wales at 29% while the region with the most homes connected was the South East with 45%.
