I'VE just had a great week. On Sunday I walked in the sunshine in some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain.
On Wednesday evening, I visited a former derelict cotton mill that has been lovingly renovated and turned into a modern workplace creating 600 new jobs.
On Thursday evening I attended a wonderful performance of 'Calamity Jane' by the Pepperpot Hill Theatre Group.
Where did all this take place and for a cost of just £5? Yes, in my home town of Darwen! The walk was from Sunnyhurst to Tockholes, the mill was India Mill and the theatre, Darwen Library Theatre.
I do wish that those criticising my home town would sometimes open their eyes and see what is on offer! At the end of the day, Darwen is still a good place to live.
