training 2000 is expecting a record number of applications after more than 450 school and college leavers attended two modern apprentice job events.
The event was staged so that young people wanting the first step on the career ladder could meet with would-be employers from business, motor, health and engineering sectors.
Chief executive of the North West's largest independent training provider, Jeff Cowburn, said: "Interest in modern apprenticeships is growing year on year and this is borne out by the record attendance.
"They are a worthwhile opportunity to earn while they learn with tremendous future prospects."
