TAMMY Smith from the Countryside Agency attended the recent meeting of Cliviger Parish Council to discuss resources available to assist in developing and delivering a local plan.
She informed the council on how best to conduct a parish 'audit of needs' and detailed the assistance on offer with the formation of a local plan. Councillors later resolved to make application to the Countryside Agency to fund a consultation document.
THE parish council is to become responsible for the maintenance of the bowling green in Park Road. Over the next few years a series of reducing grants will be provided by Burnley Borough Council.
After this period the bowling club will have to be self-financing. The bowling club is to be run as a sub-committee of CRaCA and the committee has already been formed.
One of the main items which the club will need is a special mower. It is believed that Burnley Council may have one available, or alternatively the £1,000 required could be funded by grant.
LANCASHIRE County Council are to be asked to clear blocked drains in Drakeshead Lane, repair to the bridge at Higher Buck Clough is scheduled and a meeting is to be arranged regarding the tenure of Mount Lane sportsfield. The County Council has also repositioned the bend arrows in Burnley Road about which numerous complaints had been received.
UPTOWN Band have been booked for Saturday, May 17, for another event at Mount Lane.
THE Village Hall Management Committee requested that two more parish councillors join the committee, councillors Heys and Berry volunteered.
A RESIDENT of Richmond Avenue is to be asked to reinstate his boundary following encroachment on to land owned by the Parish Council.
CLIVIGER School have requested that a bus shelter be provided at the stop opposite the school. The 'temporary' shelter was recently removed after complaints from residents of its dilapidated and unsightly condition.
CRaCA held their monthly meeting at the Gordon Lennox. Following the donation of £200 to Cliviger Brownies recently, it was agreed to make a donation of the same amount to Cliviger Guides. There is to be another Litter Pick on Saturday, March 22, combined with an Easter egg hunt for the children. For details ring Tracy on 01282 413897.
