ELEVEN cyclists have raised £10,000 cycling 200 miles for Cancer Research and the Anthony Nolan Trust.
The three-day coast to coast cycle began at St Bees Head in the Lake District and finished at Robin Hood's Bay, south of Whitby. It was organised last July to say thanks to doctors who helped treat nine-year-old Alex Charnley, who lost a two-and-a-half-year battle against non-Hodgkinsons lymphoma last November.
His father Clive, 45, of York Crescent, Blackburn, was one of the cyclists. He was joined by Graham Walsh, whose two-year-old daughter Hannah died tragically, Alf Henry, 55, of Calgary Avenue, Blackburn, who lost his daughter Alison in a car crash, Geoff Fowler, Mark Nightingale, Alex's godfather Geoff Bond, Alan Proctor, Paul Gavin, David Fowler, Peter Sumner and Neil Hodgkinson.
They presented the cheque to Ruth Carter, area manager, Anthony Nolan Trust. Russell Morgan of Cicely Mercedes Dealers in Preston provided a support van to follow the team.
