THE imposing entrance to Radcliffe High School is fitting for its 72-year history.
But inside, the school is at the cutting edge of technology.
It has officially opened its THIRD Information Technology Suite in a special presentation ceremony attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillors John and Stella Smith.
The new suite cost £108,000 and contains 26 state-of-the art computers worth an additional £25,000.
Mr Paul Livesey, head of IT at the Abden Street school, said: "The suite will be used for cross curriculum activities by the whole school and all three suites will be in use 95 per cent of the time. Even teachers have been coming in for training sessions."
The mayor told the assembled guests: "I am very impressed. It is absolutely wonderful what you are doing."
Besides the computers, the new suite also boasts an interactive wipe board, a sort of high tech blackboard, and is fully on-line. In fact, it is so up to date pupils can log on to find out what they have missed in lessons when they are ill at home and can even e-mail in their homework!
