MEMBERS of St John's Church are preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the laying of the Foundation Stone for the Aspinall and Thursby Rooms.
There will be a service at which all representatives of the Church's organisation on Sunday at 11am . The Archdeacon of Blackburn, Ven John Hawley, is due to join the congregation. Next Tuesdaya general knowledge quiz open to teams of four will be held.
POLICE community support officer for the rural area, Dave Johnson, will hold a surgery at Worsthorne Reading Rooms on Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm. He will be security marking bikes and mobile phones as well as giving advice and handing out leaflets on house and car crime. He is looking forward to residents dropping in to see him.

THE planning application for Old Hall Farmstead was rejected by planning officers at Burnley Borough Council as the farm buildings were deemed unsuitable for the proposed new use.
A PLANNING application for a bungalow and access to the rear of 2 Daisy Bank Crescent, in Worsthorne, has been received by the parish council. Anyone wishing to comment can contact Cathy Ryder at Burnley Borough Council before March 26, quoting reference CMR/03/0111.
THE arts and craft fair committee want green-fingered villagers to contribute to the plant stall by growing seeds or taking cuttings. The fair will be held on August 2.
THURSDAY evening Brownies have two vacancies and parent volunteers are always welcome. The Brownies, who are aged seven to 11, meet at 6.30pm. For details contact Mrs Uttley on 01282 416890.
THE Mother's Union, which meets next Tuesday, is looking for volunteers to take partin the church quiz night.
THE Wine Circle next meets on March 24, when the theme will be wine problems solved.
