AN Iranian asylum seeker said to have gone on an "offending spree" has appeared at Burnley Magistrates Court.
Hussein Jafari, 23, was arrested after shop windows were smashed and cars attacked in an alleged rampage which caused £2,000 of damage in the Daneshouse area of Burnley on Monday.
The defendant, of Halifax Road, Brierfield, is charged with two counts of damage, affray and assaulting a police officer but is likely to be facing an additional 12 allegations of damage.
Jafari was remanded in custody until today by District Judge Peter Firth, who said he wanted him to be seen by an interpreter and psychiatric nurse.
