TOMORROW'S sporting heroes at a Leigh school are celebrating national success today.
Westleigh Methodist Primary School is among more than 100 schools throughout Britain to receive Sport England's Activemark Award for promoting the benefits of physical activity and sport.
Headteacher Anne Bowyer said: "We value sport as an important part of the education of our children." School sports co-ordinator Karen Morris has successfully led the youngsters in their quest for sporting achievement, with support and encouragement from Anne Waltho at Westleigh High School.
Mrs Bowyer added: "They have helped us reach such a high standard in the provision and delivery of the sports curriculum."
Roger Draper, Sport England's acting chief executive, said: "The schools being honoured have shown a dedication to bringing PE, sport and active lifestyles to the fore of the schools' focus.
"They have encouraged their pupils to be active both in and out of lessons."
The primary school is part of the Leigh Education Action Zone and has been involved in the Action Zone's Sports Outreach Development programme.
