WE are told that Lancashire County Council is having a feasibility study into introducing windmill-type power turbines on school fields and spare land (LET, March 6).
Whether this proposal is right or wrong, I don't know. But while our generation is OK as far as power is concerned, we must now, if it's not too late, think of the next generations.
The country is to a certain extent blighted by power pylons already, so I would have not thought it impossible for someone to come up with a pylon design that is not only used for carrying power, but is also used to carry a turbine to create power and put it directly into the lower line or into an extra cable to direct the power to wherever it is needed, therefore eliminating the need for windmill-type structures.
