I THINK some of the lads will need a map when we eventually get to play at Turf Moor against Leicester next Tuesday night. I've almost forgotten what it looks like.
Last night's disappointing match at Sheffield United was our fourth away in succession and we are on the road again on Saturday. It is strange how the fixture list has given us five on the bounce away.
It was good to be back in the starting line-up yesterday although we were all bitterly disappointed with the result for the second successive game. I was also upset to get booked but sometimes these things happen on a frustrating night like that was.
After six bookings the week before at Millwall, we got five last night, but I don't think we are anything like a dirty team.
What we did see last night was why Sheffield United are having such a good season, they are playing ever so well although we did not do ourselves justice.
That is now history and we have to concentrate on our next away game at the weekend. Walsall will be a different kind of test to Sheffield, it is a tight little ground and we suffered a defeat there last season.
That was a game I watched in dark glasses because I was battered and bruised having been concussed in a match the previous Saturday.
I think Walsall are safe enough already because it looks like three from four at the foot of the table. I can't see them getting dragged into trouble, the teams below them have too much to do.
But we can't worry about them, we have to concentrate on our own game, because we need to start putting another run together. Three defeats in 16 does not sound bad, but two straight losses puts it in a very different light.
Until yesterday, we had been going well in the league and we have to pick up and kick on again. The manager will not let us perform like that again. The last time we had a bad day at the office was against Reading and we went on a good run after that. That's what we need to do now.
It has been a difficult couple of games but there is no time to dwell on them any longer, we still have an awful lot to play for. There is a gap to the top six but things can change very quickly and the team often comes with a strong, late run.
As a squad we believe we can still make the play-offs and I think that in enough matches this season we have shown we have got what it takes.
Obviously at Watford and Sheffield we were well below par and we have to improve, starting at the Bescot Stadium.
It is no excuse but I think last night you saw that we were still suffering from a big FA Cup hangover.
There is no doubt the defeat at Watford was a crushing disappointment for everyone, like the last day of last season when we missed out on the play-offs by just one goal.
It was a big blow for all of us, not least because we know that we did not perform on the day. It was tight, scrappy and there was not a lot between us.
To be fair we thought we could beat them, they are no Man Utd, but the bottom line is that they are in the semi's and we aren't, so good luck to them.
Let's just hope that we can at least set the record straight when we play them at Turf Moor in a few weeks time.
