CHEERS! Beer festival supporters tippled to the tune of over £20,000 to take Bent and Bongs Beer Bash takings to a record-breaking £20,000.
Organisers Atherton & Tyldesley Round Table have just announced that the three day Journal-backed festival topped £20,000 for the first time, boosting charities Childflight and Francis House Children's Charity.
Delighted organisers are indebted to sponsors and event supporters.
A Round Table spokesman said: "We would like to thank all the sponsors who make this event possible, the customers for a trouble free event and all the people who worked so hard to make it such a success."
Charity
One of the organisers, Brian Gleave, said: "I'm delighted that we've managed to raise so much money for charity, everything just came together over the weekend. We've sold more beer and we've had a lot more variety of foreign beer on offer. That's certainly been an innovation and has helped us to raise so much money.
"When we first began in 1990 we were lucky to raise £3,000 for charity, but now we're having more people than ever coming to the beer festival, we were well supported by the sponsors, who sponsored every barrel."
