WATERLOGGED football pitches in Burnley will be given a new lease of life thanks to a Lottery grant.
An award from the New Opportunities fund of more than £75,000 will be used to carry out the work at the Queen Street recreation ground.
The pitches, owned by Briercliffe Parish Council, have old agricultural drains and have been frequently too wet to play on.
Under the plans sport drainage would be installed and work carried out to reduce the slope.
Councillor Barry Guttridge, executive member for leisure, said: "We're over the moon. Clubs, leagues and the parish council have worked together Burnley Council to secure this funding."
