IF you go down to the woods today -- take your shovel and wheelbarrow for a Bold Venture Park spring clean!
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council will provide litter picking equipment and the Friends of Bold Venture are asking for volunteers to bring other tools ranging from brushes and shovels to wheelbarrows to the Spring Clean on Saturday, March 29, from 10am to noon.
Julie Manton, Friends secretary, said: "We are looking for as many people as possible to get involved and help us prepare the park for the Spring. Both children and adults are invited.
"We want to sweep, tidy and clear old leaves away as well as plants that have died. We will also pick up litter as we go along."
Tickets are still available for the illustrated history of Bold Venture Park, held at the Darwen Library Theatre on Thursday, April 10.
The talk will feature Lancashire dialect poet, Jim Atherton, as well as former parks superintendent John Firth.
The evening will feature a history of the park from 1885 to 1999, including past photos and publications.
Tickets cost £5 with no concessions. For more information contact the box office on 01254 706006.
