A FORMER finance director for a national network of radio stations has been appointed director of finance for Rossendale Council.
Waterfoot-based Phil Seddon, 43, had spent his entire working life in the private sector, until he joined Rossendale Council in October as interim head of finance.
His senior positions have included work for media companies owning radio and television stations including TalkSport, Rock FM, Kiss and Key 103.
Councillor Graham Pearson, Rossendale Council leader, said: "Phil joined us as interim head of finance in October and adapted very well to work in the public sector -- a completely different environment.
"He is another young appointment and has the drive, the ideas and the experience to complete our young, dynamic team. I am satisfied they each have the drive to get the job done well."
Mr Seddon, who is married with children and is also a foster carer, said: "I have seen the problems at Rossendale Council from the angle of being a Rossendale resident and from a professional point of view.
"I know changing the way the council works is something that residents need. It is something I believe in."
