CONSUMER watchdogs are warning drinkers to watch out for a killer vodka and bootleg whisky on the shelves.
The lethal brews -- Valkonov Vodka, counterfeit Johnnie Walker Black Label and Highland Pride Scotch -- are heavily laced with the colourless liquid methanol.
Wigan's chief trading standards officer Alan Blundell said: "You'd have to be literally dying for a drink to touch this stuff.
The vodka bottle is branded Imperial Volkanov Vodka (Charcoal distilled) and comes in one litre clear glass bottles with gold screw top lids. The label is grey/silver with gold front labels and the words Distributed for KMG 57, Khlmelnitskogo Str 236039, Kalinginrad, Russia for EEC are also present.
The false Johnnie Walker bottles have Spanish writing on the back label and the fake lot code LO 4P24878342 appears on the reverse side of the front label and there is no E mark on the base between 700ml and 73mm. The batch has no neck label.
