CARE homes in Leigh and Lowton have been awarded maximum five star ratings.
County Palatine's Brideoake House in Leigh and the Nugent Care Society's Lime House in Lowton, have both been awarded maximum five star ratings under the nationally recognised RDB rating system. They topped a class of over 20 homes assessed within Wigan Borough.
Wigan Council introduced the rating scheme in 2000 to encourage homes to provide and receive recognised achievement for providing a quality service. All care homes within the scheme are inspected annually and awarded a star rating based on their services and facilities.
Five star homes must demonstrate that they provide an "exceptional standard of care and facilities".
"I am especially pleased with this year's result as it shows Brideoake House improving year on year", said Helen Hollinshead, Care & Support Manager at County Palatine.
Brideoake House opened in 1991 and caters for 19 older people. Lime House is a registered care home in Lowton and part of the Nugent Care Society covering the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
