HELP is at hand for problem women drinkers.
The Leigh-based Willow Project, which has four drop-in services across the borough, offers a free and confidential service for females who need support to stay in control of their drinking or maintain sobriety.
The programme offers one-to-one therapy, group and individual support, information and activities.
Auricular acupuncture, a therapy for decreasing craving and improving sleep patterns, is also on offer.
A Project spokswoman said: "People can join a stop smoking course, or get support from a slimming club.
"Those struggling to control their drinking, either for health reasons or because they are concerned or embarrassed about how they behave when they have had too much to drink, also need support from people who understand what they are going through."
For further details of meeting places ring the information helpline on 01942 679300 on Wednesday between 4.30pm and 7.30pm, Thursdays from 1pm to 8pm and Fridays between 1pm to 4pm or write to the Willow Project, PO Box 8, Leigh WN7 1FB or visit the website on www.willowproject.com
