THE owners of a hair salon damaged when arsonists targeted an upstairs flat today revealed they would be back open within a week.
Lyn Smethurst and Andrea Veldon were devastated yesterday when their salon -- LA's Hair Studio, Lyndhurst Road, Burnley -- was damaged after an arsonist targeted an upstairs flat.
Lyn said damage was mostly water damage from the attempts to douse the flames as well as some electrical problems.
But she said the business, which only started up six months ago, hoped to re-open next week.
Fire crews were called to the flat in Lyndhurst Road at about 10.15pm on Wednesday after reports someone was trapped inside.
The road was closed for two hours while fire crews tackled the blaze after searching the flat and finding no-one was inside.
Lyn said: "We are upset at what has happened, but the fire didn't start in the shop but in the flat upstairs which is completely separate and nothing to do with the business.
"Most of the damage is from the water which has come down from upstairs into the shop and some electrical problems which need to be looked at.
"However, we are hoping to open up again next week and our customers shouldn't be put off coming here."
Police have launched an investigation into the blaze and a man was yesterday being questioned in connection with the incident.
