FORMER Dr Who actress Louise Jameson is looking to bring a little suspense into the lives of theatregoers next week when she comes to Blackpool's Grand Theatre in a touring production of Corpse.
"It really is one of the cleverest whodunnits I've ever been in," says the actress who starred as Rosa di Marco in EastEnders.
"It's the sort of theatre that's not going to change anyone's life but which makes for a thoroughly enjoyable evening."
This is Louise's second tour with Corpse and she's thoroughly enjoying performing in it.
"It's not an effort to perform," she said.
"Although it can be an effort getting home in the early hours of Sunday morning, getting the washing done, saying hello to the family, repacking and setting off to the next venue."
This tour will be made easier by the fact that her partner, actor David Warwick, is also in the cast.
In Corpse Louise plays a drunken landlady with lecherous designs on one of her guests.
She co-stars with Colin Baker and Peter Duncan.
Teaming up with Colin Baker means the play has very strong Dr Who connections.
Louise's role as Leela, the bikini-clad sidekick to Tom Baker's Dr Who, saw dads encouraging their children to tune in to the show on a Saturday night.
"We might get a few Daleks in the audience," she laughed.
"Dr Who fans are very loyal and have always been very supportive to me throughout my career."
Corpse will tour for the next few months but Louise is already working on other projects once the run is over.
She is currently writing a children's musical as well as planning to direct an open air version of Romeo and Juliet.
"Given the right role, I do enjoy performing," she says. "But I'm also a bit of a control freak so directing does appeal to me too."
Corpse is at Blackpool Grand Theatre from Monday until Saturday, March 22. Details from the box office on 01253 290190.
