STAFF at Sainsbury's in Deepdale were given a headstart by Sir Tom Finney as they on a fund-raising relay race.
The sporting stunt in aid of Comic Relief started on Wednesday morning when runners made their way to Blackpool decked out in red noses and carrying their collection buckets.
Bakery manager, Keith Gledhill, said, before the race: "It's 28 miles in total but one of our fitter members of staff will be completing 19 miles of the race, with most people doing two mile stints.
"Some of us will be in costumes and I will be one of the runners collecting in Blackpool as we approach the Pleasure Beach. I will have to do some walking just to collect the money."
The local stint, part of a national event, started in Bamber Bridge with staff running to Deepdale. In Blackpool the baton and buckets were passed to colleagues in the resort.
