VINNY Samways is the latest player to have been brought to Walsall by manager Colin Lee in a bid to stave off the threat of relegation.
The 35-year-old former Spurs player has returned from a spell in Spain where he played for both Las Palmas and Seville to play his part in the Saddlers battle for survival.
It looks certain to be a short stay as he has already admitted he is hoping to finish his playing career back in Spain but he has started all three matches since he returned to England.
At the tight Bescot Stadium, the battle in midfield is always a key to the outcome of any game and Samways is likely to find Paul Weller working hard to suffocate his ball playing skills.
Weller was not alone in having an unhappy time at Sheffield United on Wednesday night but Stan Ternent hopes he will strip fitter just for having played a full 90 minutes for the first time in more than two months.
His whole season has been plagued by injury from the minute he injured his foot in a freak training ground accident before the club went to the Isle of Man.
He will be desperate to play a full part in the next 12 games, starting by stopping Samways and providing creative touches of his own.
