LAST Saturday saw PNE enjoy one of their best wins of the season. For the second time they totally outplayed Derby and recorded a fine 'double' over the former Premiership team.
The scoreline of 4-2 suggests a fairly close game, but nothing could be further from the truth. Derby were dead on their feet with PNE coasting and leading 4-0.
It really could have been 7-0 but for some fine saves from the visiting 'keeper.
Alexander, Etuhu, Koumantarakis, (a welcome first goal for Big George), and Cresswell all took turns in hitting the net.
But with the game won North End took their foot off the pedal in the closing stages and allowed the visitors to 'pinch' two soft goals.
That's five wins from the last six games, easily the best run of the season for us -- what a pity it didn't come a little earlier. If the lads can keep it going who knows where we will end up.
But there are some testing matches ahead, none more so than this coming weekend's televised game at Leicester City. If we can leave there with another three points everyone involved with PNE will be well chuffed.
As usual, there will be a good following of fans at the game. And this being another new stadium it should mean even more fans making the trip.
