YOUNGSTERS have been learning to strike a pose like Madhuri Dixit at a new Bollywood dance class.

The community centre at the back of The Gujarat Hindu Society, South Meadow Lane, Broadgate, Preston, is being re-vamped as a place for sports and recreation.

Now, every Wednesday, youngsters are being invited to come down and strut their stuff with two choreographers, who hope to create a cast to rival the West End musical Bombay Dreams.

Teacher Anna Daly based at dance company Ludus, and Preston instructor Toni Dimmock, jumped at the chance to get the children moving in time.

The pair have varied disciplines and will be including everything from Hindu to jazz and modern moves in their classes.

They will be stepping out with youngsters aged 11-18 and are encouraging boys to join in.

Community centre manager Sanjay Tanden said, "We want to expand into the community. This is for all youngsters to come and experiment, regardless of their race or religion.

"It's a great opportunity to meet people while learning something new and fun.

"When they are ready we will be buying special costumes and putting on free shows around Preston, it's our version of Bombay Dreams."

The project secured more than £5,000 through the local network fund and is being managed through Spotlight on Sport and Health, a joint initiative between Preston City Council and Avenham Central Partnership.
