I AGREE with Mrs A Foy (Letters, March 6) that Church Street, in Blackburn, should never have been closed to traffic.
Another point no one seems to have thought of yet is, where will all the traffic go when the road past the train and bus station needs digging, which is bound to happen soon? That only leaves Church Street or Cicely Lane, which is obviously too narrow for large vehicles.
The council also say that Darwen Street has been narrowed to one lane as the volume of traffic is now lower because of the closure of Church Street.
What will happen when, in the future, the volume of traffic increases as it is bound to do.
The words 'short sighted' and 'lack of planning' come to mind.
