POLICE are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Leigh.
At 10.45am on Friday, a silver Mondeo on false plates was driven up on to the kerb in front of Mosley Common Post Office. Two men climbed out and ran
into the shop, one carrying a sledgehammer.
The postmaster ran into the back of the shop and closed the internal door behind him. The robber with the sledgehammer began hitting the door but the thieves gave up and ran out of the shop, taking a small amount of cash
from the till.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Leigh CID on 0161 856 7345 or
call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
