A PAIR of conmen called at homes in Blackburn, asking people to hand over their bank details to make charity donations for blind children.
Blackburn and District Blind Society was inundated with calls from residents who had answered the door to the duo.
The well-dressed Asian men called at homes in the Roe Lee and Brownhill areas, asking residents to fill out and sign direct debit forms with their bank details.
Charity worker Joyce Ferguson said: "We are the only charity for blind children in Lancashire, and these men have nothing to do with us whatsoever.
"I am shocked at what they are doing.
"I can assure people we would never collect money in this way and we will be contacting the police about this.
"Anyone collecting for any charity should have proper identification anyway, so I hope nobody has filled out the forms."
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Anyone approached for money on their doorsteps should always be careful.
"Make sure you are happy with who you are giving to, and if you have any doubts about their legitimacy, contact police."
