DARWEN councillor David Smith said recently he couldn't understand the public using the Lancashire Evening Telegraph with their problems.
It's called frustration -- at lack of results.
We saw Councillor Frank Connor, chairman of the planning committee, complaining that councillors' efforts to end problems on Redvers Road footpath in Darwen being ignored (LET, February 22).
Not long afterwards, Councillor Karimeh Foster told how she had campaigned for safety work for three years on an unfenced footpath, where a man fell into a ditch and broke his neck (LET, February 25).
Residents in Kay Street, Darwen, complained to four councillors for a larger litter bin. The old one was removed two years ago. The new one is conspicuous by its absence.
The remains of local November 5 bonfires, normally removed after a few days, have still not been touched.
Is this another cut back? What has happened to the Council of the Year?
F CROMPTON, Darwen (full address received).
