A LASTING and fitting tribute to a man who loved to walk in Prestwich Clough were completed at the weekend.
As reporte dearlierthe Friends of Prestwich Forest Park, of which the late Graham Callan was a member, began working on a memorial in January together with Bury Council.
They prepared the ground near Gardner Mount ready for planting an avenue of trees and the planting has now been completed.
Mr Callan was well-known in the area for walking his dog, Lucy, and collecting fly-tipping in his double-wheeled barrow.
He was a keen supporter of environmental issues and was walking his dog in Philips Park when he collapsed and died last year.
Bury Council's wildlife officer, David Dutton, said: "Graham was a well known local character and was constantly striving to improve and protect the local environment."
