CANDLE-lit peace vigils aimed at voicing objection to a war in Iraq were held in towns across East Lancashire last night.
The vigils were part of a world-wide peaceful protest held in more than 4,500 towns and cities across the world to oppose conflict.
Almost 100 people gathered in the square opposite Colne Library on Market Street for their protest. Organiser Frances Spencer said: "The vigil went very well and hopefully helped to show the strength of opposition that exists against the war."
Similar vigils were also held in Rawtenstall and Todmorden.
