THE champions of an annual rugby tournament will find themselves all at sea in a unique link up with the Royal Navy.
First prize in this year's national under-19s tournament at Fylde RUFC this weekend will be a day trip on a state-of-the-art navy warship.
The winning team will head for Portsmouth and take a front-row seat as the boat joins manoeuvres, including a simulated aerial attack and a display by the ship's helicopter.
They will also tour the boat and chat to members of the ship's crew and, as an additional treat, the team will get tickets to the annual navy versus army match at Twickenham on May 3. The tournament celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and, for the first time, it is being sponsored by the navy and the Royal Marines, who hope to highlight the range of careers on offer in the military.
The games take place this Satuday and Sunday and features teams from Arnold, Rossall, King Edward VII and Queen Mary School, Lytham and Kirkham school, as well as schools from up and down the country.
