AS A result of his record breaking 301 not out maiden first class century against Auckland last week, former Lytham professional, Peter Fulton, has been invited to join the New Zealand Academy.
Peter was understandably thrilled as, having been close to gaining a place in the last two seasons, he thought his chance may have slipped by.
Last summer Lytham CC were not sure whether Peter would be able to return as their overseas player until the last minute.
A call from the academy would have meant him staying in New Zealand, but that call never came.
In his last first class match last season, Peter scored 78 not out and was told that, had he made that score just one week earlier, he would have secured an academy place.
Peter is now eagerly looking forward to being part of the New Zealand set up when the academy opens its doors in April.
"Everybody at Lytham wishes him well.
"He has worked hard and thoroughly deserves this accolade," said club skipper Dan Thompson.
