FIREFIGHTERS in Bury will take part in national strike action planned for this Thursday (March 20).
Crews based at stations in Bury, Whitefield and Ramsbottom will walk out at 6pm for the first 24-hour strike in nearly two months.
The action follows the rejection of a 16 percent pay increase over three years, linked to modernisation of the service.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union claim reforming the service would lead to the loss of around 10,000 station closures.
One firefighter at Bury said: "We now know what they employers think of us. They have let us down again."
The armed services will once again provide emergency cover during the strike. Dates for further action are being discussed by the FBU.
