POLICE Sergeant Russ Gregory has become president of the East Lancashire Group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
Sgt Gregory, an officer with the Lancashire Road Safety Policing Unit, accepted the position at the group's annual general meeting at Nelson Cricket Club.
A number of road safety days have been organised in East Lancashire by Sgt Gregory including an event on land near Boundary Mill last year. Plans are being made for another day in July this year, which, it is hoped, will be held at Barden School.
The group organise advanced driving courses and boast an 80 per cent pass rate.
The next course will start from the Manor Barn public house, in Padiham Road, Burnley, on April 13, at 10am.
