REGARDING your report on the prospect of lap-dancing bars in Blackburn with Darwen (LET, February 28), I have rich red blood in my veins, and I appreciate beautiful women.
Self discipline is essential in order to keep the mind and actions in reasonable balance -- otherwise various forms of mayhem result.
Allowing, and licensing lap dancing -- seedy strip clubs -- will make it much more difficult for men to exercise self-discipline. The "lads" culture of daring and peer pressure can elevate an already over-active appetite for goggling at the spectacle of near-naked women dancing erotically.
Men wound up like that and having had a good few ales are like time bombs looking for somewhere to explode. Let's not be naive -- the pubs want more income; the punters want more spice and sex. The recipe is potentially catastrophic.
How many women will be beaten up when the men get home and the partner is not in the same mood? Will the men suddenly become patient? I don't think so.
How many attacks on unsuspecting women will result? It'll be a nightmare. Blackburn with Darwen Council will inevitably have to pay in terms of human misery, hospital bills, more broken homes.
One thing's for sure -- not one good thing will come of it. Please, don't allow lap dancers in Blackburn with Darwen.
