WHEN is a corpse not a corpse, which twin is the phoney and is he really cooking pancakes and onions on stage? The answers to these and other rather baffling questions will cause you to ponder over your gin and tonics and ice creams at the interval, but the murderous schemes planned in act one are nothing compared to what is in store in the second half!
The action takes place in the shabby Soho bedsit of 'resting' actor Evelyn and the elegant Regent's Park apartment of his identical twin Rupert. It's 1936 and the night of King Edward VIII's abdication broadcast, so immediately there's a clever parallel between the two sets of brothers.
The twins are played by the admirable Peter Duncan whose stage presence can only be described as breathtaking, with the equally amazing Colin Baker (Doctor Who) as the cunning Major, whose job it is to do the murderous deed. Louise Jameson (EastEnders and Bergerac) and David Warwick complete the very excellent quartet.
Corpse! is gloriously funny with a tale that twists and turns wickedly and has its audience on tenterhooks throughout. Thrillers don't get any more spellbinding than this one, so don't miss Gerald Moon's award-winning production.
CORPSE! at Grand Theatre, Blackpool. Until Saturday, details from the box office on 01253 290190.
