FIVE local charities have been chosen to receive a £200 cash boost each from kind-hearted police officers in Burnley.
The Mayor's Charity Fund, Burnley and Pendle Hospice, the Anthony Nolan Trust and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury, will each benefit from the cash, which has been raised through a staff lottery scheme.
Burnley youngster Jamie Graham, of Waddington Avenue, who suffers from cerebral palsy, will also receive £200 towards his hospital treatment.
The scheme raises £1,000 each year for charitable causes.
Last year Burnley and Pendle Hospice, Cancer Research and the National Deaf Children's Society all received money.
Chief Superintendent John Knowles, commander of Pennine Division, will join PS Stan Heaton and representatives from each of the five charities at this year's presentation at Burnley Police Station, at 11am on Monday.
PS Heaton who arranges the lottery said: "Current and retired police officers as well as support staff take part in the lottery.
"They were asked to nominate specific charities and these were their nominations.
"We are delighted to be able to hand over the cash.
"I know it will be put to very good use by the five causes concerned."
