A MOTHER-of-seven gave a Burnley pub manager a bust lip after she had been repeatedly asked to leave the premises, a court heard.

Burnley Magistrates were told how Angela Richmond, 35, hit victim David Coupe in the mouth after he had tried to get her out of the Clayton Arms, in Manchester Road.

Richmond had earlier exchanged blows with a woman she claimed had been flirting with her husband.

The defendant, of Burton Gardens, Brierfield, admitted assault by beating. She was ordered to pay £50 compensation and £55 costs.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, told the court the defendant was asked to leave the pub and did so. She then went back in again, sat next to her husband and was again asked to leave.

Richmond did not take any notice of Mr Coupe who asked her two or three more times. She then jumped up shouting: "He's throwing me out," and was escorted to the front door but immediately walked back in.

As she did so, she hit Mr Coupe in the mouth, causing a split lip which started to bleed.

Police arrived, the defendant was arrested and said: "Yes, I hit him. I hit him." When she was interviewed, she told officers she had had to drag the other woman off her husband and had gone back into the pub to collect him.

Mr Robinson said Richmond claimed the victim had grabbed her by the arm and as she was trying to break free, she accidentally caught his lip.

Nick Dearing, defending, said Richmond, who was on benefits, had immediately been contrite for what happened and had stayed at the pub waiting for the police to attend.
