A BIKER who revved his Kawasaki machine in response to being goaded went on to run over the arms of a schoolboy.
Preston Crown court was told that the 1000 cc bike, ridden by 37-year-old Paul Greenwood, had suddenly shot forward.
A van driver who saw the collision followed Greenwood and took down the registration number, enabling police to arrest him.
Greenwood, of Hood Street, Accrington, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to a 200 hours community punnishment order and disqualifed from the roads for two years.
Mr Patrick Williamson, prosecuting, told the court the offence took place on Accrington Road, Blackburn on October 28 last year.
The boy, who was 11 at the time, was with friends. A friend had crossed the road, saw Greenwood on his bike and complemented the rider. He shouted for the others to cross the road.
The 11-year-old was slower than the others and he thought the traffic lights were on red when he began to cross. The lights began to change.
As the children crossed the bike was revving loudly. The boy was in front of the bike, it suddenly set off and struck the boy.
The boy described how he remembered landing on the ground and the bike running over both his arms.
Greenwood stopped briefly but then rode off.
The boy was crying and both his arms were really hurting. He was taken to hospital by his mum, but there were no fractures.
