A LITTLE girl waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant was whisked away to Hogwarts when her bedroom was magically transformed into a Harry Potter wonderland.

Sarah Coupe, 13, was born with a hole in the heart and only one kidney. She had been waiting since before Christmas for her wizard bedroom.

"Its like a dream come true to finally get it. It's better than I ever expected."

Her new bedroom was transformed by design student Tammy Kennedy, who spent three painstaking weeks hand-painting the room to a specific design drafted by Sarah. The end result was enough to take Sarah's mind of her illness - she needs dialysis treatment six times a week - and distract her from the stacks of medicines and machinery cluttering her room.

Sarah's mum, Karen Coupe, of Spring Meadows, Clayton-le-Moors, said the room was delayed because Barratt had not finished their new home and the family could not move in until after the New Year.

The home builder had offered to send in a designer to bring about the Potter transformation but the family had made other arrangements. Sarah was really ill in hospital when she had part of her stomach removed and tubes fitted for dialysis.

"To take her mind off it, we said she could have anything she wanted and she said she wanted a Harry Potter bedroom.

"Barratt promised that we could move in before Christmas but this never happened and we had to wait till January.

"I work at Accrington and Rossendale College, so I asked if one of the students would want to do it.

"Tammy came forward and she did a brilliant job.

"I can't thank her enough.

"She's worked so hard and put everything in that Sarah wanted. They're best of friends now."

Sarah said: "My room's absolutely fantastic.

"It has everything I really wanted.

"It's got Dobby, the Griffindaw emblem and Hogwarts and the ceiling looks like the sky.

"It's really magical, a dream come true."

Tammy, 20, of Victoria Street, Church, is a design and painting and decorating student at Accrington and Rossendale College.

She said: "I started last month.

"It took quite a while but when I finished it and I saw Sarah's face it was well worth it. She said she absolutely loved it."
