MORE women students will have the opportunity to study football at levels ranging from First Diploma to Higher National Diploma at a college near Lancaster.
The demand to learn about and play football is so huge that a special female football academy is being set up at Myerscough College - echoing the move already made at Lancaster and Morecambe College.
Under the new scheme, the college is even offering top-up courses that will allow students to gain a degree in the subject.
It is the brainchild of David Grecic, programme leader for sport at Myerscough College, and will be overseen and delivered by UEFA qualified coaches Phil Brown and Gareth Evans with Laura McIntosh.
Laura says: "Football is the fastest growing participation sport for women in the UK and yet education in the field is distinctly lacking. Our academy will give girls the chance boys have had for years."
For further information about the Girls' Football Academ, call David Grecic or Laura McIntosh on 01995-642224.
