IT WAS a record-breaking weekend for swimming clubs who flocked to Salt Ayre Leisure Centre to take part in the North Lancashire Age Group Competition.
The Carnforth Otters were on outstanding form - winning 37 races and breaking an incredible 23 club records.
Most prominent among the young Otters was 12-year-old Robert Bale, who achieved outstanding times for freestyle events and the National Age Group Qualifying Times.
The outstanding breaststroke duo of Emily Jackson, 11, and Sophie Casson, 17, broke five records each, with Emily gaining a National Age Group time in the 200m and Sophie new personal bests in the 100m backstroke and freestyle - be-coming the first girl in club history to swim under one-minute in freestyle.
Ten-year-old Jack Brown made his first competition memorable, winning the 400m freestyle and showing promise as a future individual medley swimmer.
Thirty-four swimmers from Lancaster City's swimming club took part in more than 200 races at the gala - all setting new personal bests.
They floored last year's performance of 45 black badges for first, second or third places, with an exceptional performance coming from Sophie Cocker, who gained a first, second and third out of seven events.
Thirteen-year-old James Wannop also put himself on the winners' podium with three firsts, four seconds and one third place.
For gaining points throughout the competition for each of the best events swum, 11 Lancaster swimmers received 'Bagcat' awards for finishing in the top six in their age groups.
