WHEN Sarah Coleman becomes Queen of the May she will be keeping the title in the family.

The 10-years-old Lowton St Mary's Primary School pupil will following in her mother's and sister's footsteps as May Queen of Golborne St Thomas' Parish Church.

Her mother, Leigh mobile librarian, Ghislaine held the honour in 1969 and her sister Rachel in 2002. Younger sister Hannah, eight, will be in her retinue.

Sarah, who enjoys Guides and playing in her school's football team, will be crowned at the 56th carnival on May 17 by Miss Joan Heaton.

Her retinue also includes Kimberley Sing, Jodie Mulcrow and Sophie Armstrong.

All Sarah's family are members of Golborne Parish Church and St Thomas' Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society.

The crowning will follow a parade from Derby Road through the village streets and carnival organisers are calling for anyone who would like to take part in the parade, either aboard a float or in character dress, to contact secretary, Sheila Ashurst, on 01942 709913.
