HISTORY pupils at Darwen Vale High School gained international recognition in a recent story competition.
The year-eight students were entered alongside children from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Panama and Bordeaux and made a real impression on the judges.
Emma Jarret, Ryan Witchell, Martin Walsh, Lucy Harvey, Jack Rogerson and Holly Riding were all entered into the competition. Holly's work, entitled 'The Nightmare' was highly commended and she received a certificate and a personal letter highlighting the strengths of her story.
Colette Roberts, head of history at the school, said: "The competition was organised by John Murray Publishers and the pupils have done so well to compete with children from across the world. It's a really fantastic achievement for all of them."
