Accrington Stanley need just 14 points from their remaining nine game to secure promotion to the Nationwide Conference.

And they will hope to put more distance between themselves and promotions chasers Stalybridge Celtic, Barrow, Vauxhall Motors and Worksop when they entertain Whitby Town at the Crown Ground.

Chairman Eric Whalley is now looking for local people to show their support for the club as the season draws to a close.

"We have four home matches left, starting with the match against Whitby Town on Saturday afternoon," he said.

"We are now looking for as many people as possible to come along and get behind the team as we make the final push for promotion over the coming weeks.

"Nothing is guaranteed yet and there is still a lot of work to be done, so we want the local people to come along and be a part of what we are trying to achieve."

Stanley haven't been strangers to success in recent seasons.

Since the current management team of John Coleman and Jimmy Bell took over four years ago, the Reds have won promotion back into the UniBond Premier Division at the first attempt, followed by a fantastic treble of cup competitions last season.

However, the Reds' chairman firmly believes the best is yet to come.

"Accrington Stanley is a club with a big name and a very famous history in the Football League," Mr Whalley said. "Now the future is looking brighter than ever.

"The ground is up to Conference standard and with improvements ongoing we are looking to build a stadium for the Football League.

"There is a terrific spirit around the Crown Ground, both on the terraces and in the dressing room, the team is playing good, attractive football and hopefully come the end of the season we will all have something to celebrate!"

Stanley's success so far this season has generated a lot of interest in the club from further afield and a profile of Accrington Stanley will be broadcast on BBC1's Football Focus this Saturday lunchtime.

The television cameras were in town on Tuesday night to film Stanley training and interview manager Coleman.
