POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 36-year-old man was violently attacked as he walked through Burnley town centre.
The man was approached by a group of three or four people outside Boots, in The Mall, at 1.15pm last Friday.
DC Dave Hindle, of Burnley Police, said: "The man was assaulted and received severe facial injuries. After being taken to Burnley General Hospital he was transferred to Blackburn Royal Infirmary for further treatment. There were a lot of people in the area at the time of the attack and we are keen to speak to anybody who may have seen the incident."
