FORGET David Beckham, move over Lennox Lewis, two police officers have 'nicked' their force's sports personalities of the year.
Detective Constable Dave Watkinson, from Penwortham CID, and Sue Harrison, a civilian worker at the major crime unit, Hutton, were given the 2002 Lancashire Constabulary sports and social club award by Chief Constable Paul Stephenson.
Mr Watkinson, 50, was rewarded for his work in athletics and squash and raising thousands of pounds for charity, while Mrs Harrison, 48, has played in the Great Britain and England police volleyball squads.
In an unusual move, the pair were jointly awarded the trophy.
Mr Stephenson said: "This is only the second time that two people have been jointly presented with this trophy. They have received this award in recognition of many years of hard work and dedication to their chosen sports."
