RAMSBOTTOM United go into an instant replay with Newcastle Town hoping for a very different result.
They will travel to Staffordshire for their second successive Saturday North West Counties Division One fixture against Newcastle this weekend after losing 3-2 to them on their home turf.
The double header was broken up by a 1-1 draw against Alsager on Wednesday, and despite conceding a last gasp equaliser in that game, joint manager Andy Grimshaw is confident that Ramsbottom can bring something back from Newcastle.
He said: "It was probably the best we've played all season against Alsager, who hadn't conceded a goal in six matches and had beaten Prescot.
"We're still bordering on the relegation line and not out of that by any means, but confidence is high and we're playing some good football.
"I'm really looking forward to Newcastle because they have a big, wide pitch which will suit our football. They are a good side but they are beatable."
If Grimshaw needed any more convincing of this it came on Saturday when only a missed penalty prevented Ramsbottom going in 2-0 up at the break.
He added: "That would have had a completely different bearing on the result but I was disappointed with the way we came out for the second half."
Grimshaw and co-boss Jimmy Clarke have brought winger Dean Donoghue in from Rossendale and welcome back Danny Goodall after a four month lay-off with an ankle ligament injury.
