IT came as no surprise to see that Bury Council has postponed the decision on the closure of the old folks homes until after the May elections. This is just one more example of councillors becoming increasingly arrogant and forgetting that they are elected to represent us, the people.
With this action, and its forthcoming allowances increase, this council, and especially its leaders, is beginning to assume a divine right to rule. It saddens me that in an age of democracy, the people cannot immediately remove such wasteful and indulgent representatives. Party politics should be put aside and local issues brought to the fore. Let's remind these councillors that they work for us. Isn't it time we handed out some p45s?
