THE next open meeting of the Society will be held on Monday, March 24, at Gigg Lane Social Club, 7.30pm (please note the re-arranged date).

The next car boot sale at Gigg Lane foreground will be on Sunday, April 6. The Forever Bury tombola table was particularly well patronised at the March sale, and the venture will be repeated at the April event.

Anyone who can make a contribution to the prizes on offer is asked to take their donation to the open meeting where it will be gratefully accepted by Pauline Pullan and co, the car boot sale organisers.

Another event looming on the horizon is the sponsored walk to Spotland (home of Rochdale FC) on Good Friday, April 18. Supporters planning to take part in this event, which will start from Gigg Lane at 10am, are asked to register in advance either at the commercial office at Gigg Lane, or by post at Forever Bury, PO Box 310, Bury BL9 6WA, to obtain the all-important sponsor forms. The walk will be marshalled and it should be a great fun day for the supporters, and a really useful boost to funds.

Talking about fun days, what about the Forever Bury beer festival on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, coinciding with the last match of the season at Gigg Lane? Brendan Leyden's Forever Bury will be prominent on the occasion, as will another special brew labelled "6-0", commemorating the record breaking cup final victory over Derby County a century ago. This is another product of the Bury-based Leyden Brewery.

Members and supporters who don't have access to the Forever Bury website may not be aware that, at long last, the quarter million shares in the club which were in the hands of the SOS Trust, have now been vested in the Society. This is, of course, is on top of those shares already purchased by the Society from fund-raising activities and a total of 3,425 shares donated to the Society from a variety of people.

This means that the Society now has the powerful say in the club's affairs which it has always sought.

No space this time for news of the logo competition - entries now closed, the problem of picking a winner not solved - the great seat sale spreadsheet which is approaching completion, and the ongoing March Player-of-the-Month. All that to follow later.
